2023 is a year which will see Antares throw open its doors to host an exciting calendar of events
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2023. It’s a year which will see Antares throw open its doors to host an exciting calendar of events, marking its increasingly central role in Barcelona’s vibrant cultural and social life.
From fiestas to festivals, the Spanish are renowned for their ability to celebrate in style and enjoying life is certainly something we take seriously at Antares.
This newsletter looks back at one of the final events held at Antares in 2022: the colourful and musical launch of Manera, a cutting-edge interiors magazine, which saw many of Spain’s prominent designers, architects and art collectors enjoy an evening of food and friends in the Antares penthouse.
You never need a reason to visit this first-class city by the sea and we to welcome many of you to come and experience Barcelona and the beauty of Antares for yourselves this year. We guarantee an unforgettable experience.
Best wishes
The Antares team
Events at Antares
A celebration of style
As the former editor of AD Spain, Enric Pastor is a familiar name for anyone interested in luxury Spanish design so we were thrilled when he chose to launch his new quarterly magazine, Manera, at Antares. The event, held immediately before Christmas, brought together over 100 designers, architects, art collectors and clients to party in our main penthouse, with thrilling elevated views from the 26th floor over Barcelona. Manera translates as “the way things are done” and at the event, Enric explained that he aims to bring optimism and a fresh perspective to design, showcasing the very best of Spanish and Latin American creativity while also being an ‘ambassador’ for a modern way of living. It’s a view that chimes perfectly with Antares’ own style. You see it in Odile Decq’s triumphant curves and colours and in the open-plan interiors designed by interior design studio HBA, a contemporary and warm take on city living that is elegant, sophisticated and enriching. Manera is available both in print and digitally, with the second edition on newsstands now.
Party planning at Antares
The Manera launch party saw guests feast on a bespoke menu from Antares’ inhouse restaurant, Le Grand Café Rouge. Seaweed nori in tempura, Christmas cannelloni, Iberian ham on crisp coca bread and pulled pork were among the dishes served up, followed by seasonal nougat and red berry pannacotta, accompanied by champagne, cava and wines selected by Le Grand Café Rouge’s sommelier. Antares and Le Grand Café Rouge are adept at hosting parties. Memorable bespoke events last year included a collaboration with Gärna Studio Gallery, a Madrid-based contemporary gallery whose colourful geometric art installations filled the penthouse, and an evening with Bentley Barcelona. Bentley brought three cars to Antares’ underground garage, allowing party goers the opportunity to test drive the latest models from this prestigious marque.
Spotlight Antares — The Art of Interiors
The interiors of Antares are in total concert with the spirit of the building as Odile Decq applied her unique vision to every aspect of the development. Her goal is to transform everyday moments into lessons in artistic reverence and never is that more clear than in the show flats she designed for the building. The show flats were inspired by Barcelona-based artists Joan Mirò, Antonio Tàpies and San Sebastian native Eduardo Chillida. They each have their own, distinct palette ranging from Mirò’s, whose work was influenced by the scenic seaside town, playful and colourful characteristics, Chillida’s natural tone and strong black-and-white contrasts, which evoke his monumental abstract works, and Tàpies consisting of layered earth tones like golden yellow and deep green.
