An enticing cultural calendar
As summer approaches and temperatures rise, Barcelona’s cultural calendar becomes ever more enticing.
Below, we name-check some of the world-class musical stars set to perform in the city in the coming months.
A home in Barcelona provides permanent year-round entry to the city’s culture and also, for foreign investors, represents a path well-travelled. Consultancy firm CBRE placed Barcelona among the top five European markets with the highest volume of real estate investment from outside of Spain, a total of €882.9 million in the first six months of 2023. Musical maestros
Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli concludes his concerts at Palau Sant Jordi this week but concerts later in the summer include French classical pianist Hélène Grimaud at Palau de la Música Catalana in May and all-American superstar Bruce Springsteen with the E Street Band in June at the Olympic Stadium. Palau de la Música is also the venue for works including Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Madame Butterfly.
Artistic outings
This year Barcelona plays homage to the Spanish artist Antoni Tàpies on the 100th anniversary of his birth and the Fundació Antoni Tàpies has a series of events planned. Starting in June, the Picasso Museum is showing an exhibition titled ‘Fernande Olivier, Pablo Picasso and his friends’, and there’s still time to catch Tutankhamun: the immersive experience at IDEAL Arts Centre.
The Tàpies Show Apartment
The show apartments at Antares, all on the 10th floor, highlight the links between Spain and three giants of the country’s art scene: Joan Miró, Eduardo Chillida and Antoni Tàpies. The Tàpies show apartment incorporates the rich tones found in his work, warm golds, soft greens and accents of red, in a calm and harmonious palette, headlined by a vast canvas of one of his artwork. The three bedroom home has floor to ceiling windows, a feature of every home at Antares, and a wide terrace with views to the sea and the city, an especially wonderful venue to watch the sun as it sets behind the Tibidabo Mountains.
