Barcelona: A leading world sports city
Welcome
Barcelona is a leading world sports city. That’s the conclusion of global consultancy BCW’s 2023 Ranking of Sporting Cities which placed Barcelona seventh out of 100 cities as a prestigious sports destination.
Barcelona excels, both for opportunities to play yourself and for watching elite level sporting stars in action, and this week we highlight the oldest international sporting event held in Spain: the legendary equestrian competition CSIO Barcelona.
At Antares, our award-winning concierge team have a hotline to tickets for all Barcelona’s major sporting events from football to tennis, road cycling to Formula One, basketball to next year’s eagerly anticipated America’s Cup. Do come and visit us to discover Barcelona’s superb sports scene.
Best wishes

Equine excellence
Barcelona welcomes the world’s most accomplished show jumpers from 28th September to 1st October for the CSIO Barcelona 111th International Jumping Competition, Spain’s oldest international sporting event. Held at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona, this is the principal event on the international show jumping calendar with ten competitions over four days including the grand final of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup.
Family festival fun
The competition brings a unique atmosphere to the city and that’s reflected at PoloPark, a hugely popular family-focused festival held during the competition, also at the Polo Club. Food markets, musical shows, Kids Park and a traditional Pony Park are all part of the appeal with organisers calling it “a range of authentic experiences in harmony with the equestrian world, a space for family fun and entertainment.”
