Sports and business are both key aspects of Barcelona life
Welcome
Sports and business are both key aspects of Barcelona life as this week’s newsletter highlights. We look at the Barcelona Marathon, a regular event since 1980, and consider the latest data demonstrating Barcelona’s prime position for business and investment.
Global real estate agency Savills highlight how well positioned Barcelona property is for the year ahead. Their Prime Residential Index: Global Cities, published this month, puts Barcelona behind only Dubai and Sydney for projected growth in 2024, predicting figures of 2 to 3.9% and building, says the report, “on the already robust growth seen over the course of 2023 with capital value increases of 3.4%”.
Best wishes

Barcelona Marathon
Ready, steady, go for the 2024 Barcelona Marathon on 10th March, this year with a new course described as “more urban, faster and more touristic.” From the start in Passeig de Gràcia to the finish line at the Arc de Triomf, the route passes numerous iconic city landmarks, including the Sagrada Familia, Plaça de Catalunya, Parc de la Ciutadella and, between the 30th and 31st kilometre marker, from our own magnificent building, Antares. Residents can enjoy a view of the race from their own terraces or from the rooftop terrace, the highest in the city. A notable vantage point for a memorable sporting event.
A city made for business
Barcelona’s business-minded outlook is demonstrated in several new international rankings:
- Top ten world city for tech talent
- Top ten European city for investment and development
- Fifth most important start-up hub in the EU
- Second most popular city for founders to launch their start-up
